Torch Fired Copper Clay Pieces

Torch Fired Copper Clay Pieces
I am so excited that I had success today with torching some copper clay, that I am going to post a photo on both of my blogs! Torched Fusion is my enameling blog so there is information and photos related to enameling there.

Anyway… I have made sooooo many texturing stamps over the years with my earthenware that I decided to use some of the textures on the copper clay that I purchased. I was not able to incorporate the copper clay with the earthenware (even though I know of an Etsy shop that shows her supplies on her finished beads as “bronze clay” and “porcelain.” I would make a good assumption that the bronze portion of her pieces are actually bronze lustre. Bronze fires at a significantly lower temperature than porcelain…)

Now my pieces! I have decided to have separate components for some new jewelry I am making. The copper clay piece will be used in combination with fired/glazed clay pieces and perhaps filigree bronze pieces will be involved. Stay tuned.

Just know it took me three times to get the temperature and time right for the copper clay to work with my little butane torch. It is finicky stuff.
