Thank You For Your Art Support in 2014!

Happy Holidays!!

Happy Holidays!!

Thank you for making the year 2014 one of my best ever! Not only did I get a new grandson in May, but I have met so many new customers at my shows and this has resulted in a very successful year!

You can still purchase gift items at SMILING TURTLE ART SPOT this coming weekend during the Holiday Open House from 11qm-4pm Saturday, December 13th. I will have some of my clay items as well at enameled copper earrings there. I am a participating artist at the gallery and plan to have more enameling classes there in 2015. If the kiln is up and running, I may add some pottery classes as well. Let them know of your interest when you visit the gallery.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and thanks, again, for contributing to one of my best years ever!

Torch Fired Copper Clay Pieces

Torch Fired Copper Clay Pieces
I am so excited that I had success today with torching some copper clay, that I am going to post a photo on both of my blogs! Torched Fusion is my enameling blog so there is information and photos related to enameling there.

Anyway… I have made sooooo many texturing stamps over the years with my earthenware that I decided to use some of the textures on the copper clay that I purchased. I was not able to incorporate the copper clay with the earthenware (even though I know of an Etsy shop that shows her supplies on her finished beads as “bronze clay” and “porcelain.” I would make a good assumption that the bronze portion of her pieces are actually bronze lustre. Bronze fires at a significantly lower temperature than porcelain…)

Now my pieces! I have decided to have separate components for some new jewelry I am making. The copper clay piece will be used in combination with fired/glazed clay pieces and perhaps filigree bronze pieces will be involved. Stay tuned.

Just know it took me three times to get the temperature and time right for the copper clay to work with my little butane torch. It is finicky stuff.

Appetizer Tray with Toothpick Holder

My fall shows will be underway soon. I have been working on some new projects including this 9 1/2 inch appetizer plate that comes with a handmade toothpick holder. The items I make are all slab-built. No molds are used whatsoever…

This is one of what will be available to purchase as an appetizer server. Chop up some cheese and salami…maybe olives. Toothpicks would be used as a sort of appetizer kabob maker… Now I’m hungry.

I should have my fall show schedule ready to post in about a week. Have a great Sunday evening.

Show schedule for fall will be posted soon. Also, I have the perfect project going on in my other creative endeavor. TORCHED FUSION will soon have information posted about my Art Clay (copper) that I have been playing with. How about that? A clay artist now torch-enameling on copper clay pieces. The perfect union… Photos posted on both blogs about that next week.
