hutchFEST Moved to MidAmerica Center for 10/21/17 Event!

Textured Stars

Just letting you know that hutchFEST has moved to MidAmerica Center in Council Bluffs, which is a short 6 minute trip from the original location at Midtown Crossing in Omaha. This is a “good news” scenario for any ceramic artist because the weather forecast for high winds and rain is a terrible situation! Thanks to the organizers at hutchFEST who have the forethought to make this switch!

The 160 vendors participating hope you will make a day of it! Indoors, out of the rain and wind. Win-Win! Hope to see you there Saturday!

New Rectangle Clay Soap Dishes

Ready to dry - then fire, glaze and fire again...

Ready to dry – then fire, glaze and fire again…

When I was at Phelps Mill Festival a couple of weeks ago, I paid close attention to the soap artist / vendors. I have been making mostly round soap dishes. Uh… no. That doesn’t work with all of these creative soap people since all of their bars are rectangles.

So, when we returned home, I got to work at making the texture stamps for some new rectangular soap dishes. These are three of them. Aren’t they cool? I loved using the bottom of a vintage glass dish to creative the flower-like one. The others are just random textures I came up with.

These will nicely nestle a fragrant bar of colorful handmade soap. I hope to hear from one of the vendors and buy some soap from them to sell with my dishes. The soaps are scrumptious!
