hutchFEST Moved to MidAmerica Center for 10/21/17 Event!

Textured Stars

Just letting you know that hutchFEST has moved to MidAmerica Center in Council Bluffs, which is a short 6 minute trip from the original location at Midtown Crossing in Omaha. This is a “good news” scenario for any ceramic artist because the weather forecast for high winds and rain is a terrible situation! Thanks to the organizers at hutchFEST who have the forethought to make this switch!

The 160 vendors participating hope you will make a day of it! Indoors, out of the rain and wind. Win-Win! Hope to see you there Saturday!

Fall Shows Begin Soon!

Nativity & Trees on Wood

My fall show line-up is set to begin on Saturday, September 9th at the Whistle Stop in Elkhorn. It is appropriately called Shopkeeper and Friends Antique & Artisan Market. This is the first one I have participated in during the fall season. I have gone there earlier in the year, but I am excited to see fall creations and decor. I hope you can join us!

New Item: Ceramic Clip

Hanging Ceramic Clip for photo, a favorite poem, a cherished card or a reminder note

There have been some items that I have made over the years that end up as a personal favorite. This has not always meant that my customers like them so much, but this little clip is one of those items that I like a lot!

It’s a little piece of handmade art that can hang on your wall (or in your cubical at work) and will securely hold a photo, a cherished greeting card, favorite poem, or just a reminder note. This isn’t your ordinary clip. It grabs what you choose to display securely and can be easily changed as needed.

This one has an impression of the unique design found on the bottom of an old candy dish. It was impressed into clay and created a stamp for me to use over and over on many of my clay pieces. I may use these clips on some holiday ornaments, too, but I haven’t decided what should hang at the bottom for that purpose.

Happy fall, everyone! (The weather looks to be very fall-like for the next few days! Enjoy it!)

Here is the  Facebook Link so that you can get an idea of what will be there on April 16 & 17. The show details are also on that home page banner on Facebook. Here is the link: HANDMADE OMAHA

Pair of Dipping Dishes for Grating Garlic and Olive Oil

Olive oil is so good for you! This pair of dishes can be used for grating garlic on the textured bottom, adding olive oil and herbs if so desired. I have them for sale in my Amazon shop right now. They are the perfect size for your table. I also have singles listed in my shop, so take a look! Creative Clay Cafe Handmade at Amazon

PS: The raised textured areas were made by pressing in one of my custom clay stamps that I made from the pattern on the bottom of a vintage drinking glass.

Have a great week! It’s getting closer to spring every day!

Handmade at Amazon Shop

It’s so much fun coming up with seasonal items although I tend to gravitate toward making items you can use all year ’round simply for practical reasons.

I am so excited to have some items listed on my new Handmade at Amazon Shop. CLICK HERE TO VIEW MY SHOP—> NEW HANDMADE at AMAZON The items shown above are currently available for sale.

It has been a challenge getting things listed since the official launch of Handmade at Amazon last week. This is already a very busy time of year for artists getting ready for shows, but
I hope the efforts are worth it. I had a sale within 10 hours of the launch, but not much since. I am very hopeful that things pick up. My plan is to list a few items every day and build up the shop inventory.

Let me know what you think. Enjoy the fall season!! I just found out this week that I have been accepted to be a part of two fall shows that were my best ones last year. They are in late November and one is a week later the first weekend of December. Lots to do – good thing I love it!

Leaf Ornaments Made with Found Sticks and Buttons from My Vintage Collection

Clay Leaf Ornament with Vintage Button and found twig

Clay Leaf Ornament with Vintage Button and found twig

I am ready for fall! My new glazes inspired me to make some leaf ornaments complete with vintage button and some twigs I found on a recent walk. A specialty glaze around the edge and on the leaf veins create a beautiful earthy green color when painted over the dark brown.
Thanks for visiting my blog!
