6-10 Night Market @midtowncrossing I'm all set up, but some of my hanging items didn't like the breeze (ok, wind!) I've got a shady spot and music nearby. Come by and enjoy the evening strolling through Turner Park. We will miss this kind of night in a few months. #handmadegifts #potterylove #enameledcopper #firstdayofautumn My last 2017 Night Market is coming up this Friday at Turner Park @midtowncrossing Forecast shows windy icon on my phone weather app, so I hope that changes by then! Clay art and wind isn't a good combination. #handmadepottery #nightmarket #enameljewelry #fridaynightatturnerpark #turnerpark #omahamakers

What’s Going on in My Home Studio

Textured Spoon Rests

I continue to use texture found on vintage glassware pieces from my personal glassware collection to imprint my clay art pieces. These are new for 2017 and have been selling well. Three sizes of spoon rests – because all spoons are not the same size either! I just finished another awesome show with Handmade Omaha a couple weekends ago. That is such an awesome show because it is well organized, well publicized and well attended (by customers that truly appreciate handmade and support local artists, too!)

I signed up for three “Night Markets” at Midtown Crossing this coming season. Hours are 6pm-10 pm and I am curious to see what these are all about. The first one will be Friday, May 26th. I love the Midtown Crossing area and although I swore off of outdoor shows last June at Junkstock (due to the woman next to me collapsing in front of my booth from heat stroke)… ¬†I’ve decided I am willing to try a few fun evening shows.

Coming up June 24th at 1141 N 11th St in Omaha is a show called Bench-MADE. I’ve been invited to participate in this one day show and I hear it is awesome! I’m building up inventory with some more new items. That is my studio update. I hope you have a great spring heading into summer. I can’t wait to get to these new shows!!

New Item: Ceramic Clip

Hanging Ceramic Clip for photo, a favorite poem, a cherished card or a reminder note

Hanging Ceramic Clip for photo, a favorite poem, a cherished card or a reminder note

There have been some items that I have made over the years that end up as a personal favorite. This has not always meant that my customers like them so much, but this little clip is one of those items that I like a lot!

It’s a little piece of handmade art that can hang on your wall (or in your cubical at work) and will securely hold a photo, a cherished greeting card, favorite poem, or just a reminder note. This isn’t your ordinary clip. It grabs what you choose to display securely and can be easily changed as needed.

This one has an impression of the unique design found on the bottom of an old candy dish. It was impressed into clay and created a stamp for me to use over and over on many of my clay pieces. I may use these clips on some holiday ornaments, too, but I haven’t decided what should hang at the bottom for that purpose.

Happy fall, everyone! (The weather looks to be very fall-like for the next few days! Enjoy it!)

Spring is here and that means you need to mark your calendar for the 4th Annual Handmade Omaha Modern Makers Spring Arts & Crafts Bazaar. Here is the  Facebook Link so that you can get an idea of what will be there on April 16 & 17. The show details are also on that home page banner on Facebook. Here is the link: HANDMADE OMAHA

I am excited to be a part of this quality show! You won’t want to miss it!

Pair of Dipping Dishes for Grating Garlic and Olive Oil

Olive oil is so good for you! This pair of dishes can be used for grating garlic on the textured bottom, adding olive oil and herbs if so desired. I have them for sale in my Amazon shop right now. They are the perfect size for your table. I also have singles listed in my shop, so take a look! Creative Clay Cafe Handmade at Amazon

PS: The raised textured areas were made by pressing in one of my custom clay stamps that I made from the pattern on the bottom of a vintage drinking glass.

Have a great week! It’s getting closer to spring every day!

Handmade at Amazon Shop

It’s so much fun coming up with seasonal items although I tend to gravitate toward making items you can use all year ’round simply for practical reasons.

I am so excited to have some items listed on my new Handmade at Amazon Shop. CLICK HERE TO VIEW MY SHOP—> NEW HANDMADE at AMAZON The items shown above are currently available for sale.

It has been a challenge getting things listed since the official launch of Handmade at Amazon last week. This is already a very busy time of year for artists getting ready for shows, but
I hope the efforts are worth it. I had a sale within 10 hours of the launch, but not much since. I am very hopeful that things pick up. My plan is to list a few items every day and build up the shop inventory.

Let me know what you think. Enjoy the fall season!! I just found out this week that I have been accepted to be a part of two fall shows that were my best ones last year. They are in late November and one is a week later the first weekend of December. Lots to do – good thing I love it!

Clay Word Plaque in its Bisque State

This plaque will be glazed after it dries and is fired to a bisque state

This plaque will be glazed after it dries and is fired to a bisque state

I had one of those “aha” moments this past week, so I now know I should break up my wordier phrases onto smaller ones to press into the clay. I carve the words in backwards and make my own inspiring plaques to stamp into a larger one.
Cannot wait to finish some of these and have them at the farmer’s markets. Transparent glaze colors really pop the words once they are finished.

Thank You For Your Art Support in 2014!

Happy Holidays!!

Happy Holidays!!

Thank you for making the year 2014 one of my best ever! Not only did I get a new grandson in May, but I have met so many new customers at my shows and this has resulted in a very successful year!

You can still purchase gift items at SMILING TURTLE ART SPOT this coming weekend during the Holiday Open House from 11qm-4pm Saturday, December 13th. I will have some of my clay items as well at enameled copper earrings there. I am a participating artist at the gallery and plan to have more enameling classes there in 2015. If the kiln is up and running, I may add some pottery classes as well. Let them know of your interest when you visit the gallery.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and thanks, again, for contributing to one of my best years ever!
